What are Dermal Fillers?

As we age, our skin loses collagen which keeps our face looking full and firm. Dermal fillers are made from an injectable gel made from Hyaluronic Acid (HA) which occurs naturally in our skin. HA delivers nutrients which helps our skin retain softness, moisture, and repairs damage.

Dermal fillers work by adding volume to the skin, smoothing lines and plumping areas that have lost shape or definition.

What is the Procedure Like?

Once you’ve had our complimentary skin analysis and have decided on dermal fillers, you will have the opportunity to meet your Medical Practitioner to discuss the treatment. You can talk about desired results, review your medical history and have the chance to ask any questions before the treatment. The Doctor or Nurse Practitioner will examine your facial structure to determine where to administer the fillers. This is a non-surgical treatment. Small amounts of filler will be injected into the areas where you have lost volume.

The treatment usually takes around 30 – 45 minutes.

Do Dermal Fillers Hurt?

Dermal fillers contain a pain-reducing local anesthetic to help manage discomfort and to ensure the process is as painless as possible. You may also talk to your Medical practitioner about a topical numbing cream if you’re concerned about further discomfort.

When Will I See Results?

Usually, you will see results immediately. If there has been any swelling, it should go down in a couple of days, and you’ll be able to see the full results.

Depending on the area being treated, dermal fillers can last between 6-18 months.

When Can I Return to Work/ Normal Activities?

Right away! Downtime is minimal, and most people can return to work or normal activities right away. If you experience any swelling, tenderness or bruising, it typically only lasts a couple of days.
